not so extreme

Okay, so my last few reviews were quite extreme, this song is more down to where i can actually critique it. yes you used the fruity loops demo, big deal, at least i know your human and use the same program as me, but that still doesn't explain the amazing sounds in the other songs. but basically, this had an awesome feel to it, a little to simple, but it definitely had the right mood, jesus, when the first kick came in and was a warping the entire song with it's power, i could just imagine this live in a huge arena and my head pounding with this beat....might give me a headache, but one of those good ones....how long have you been using fruity loops or writing your own music?

XsToRmEr1 responds:

I've been using FL for about 3 years now on a farily consistent basis. As for writing music, I'm not sure. Lets just say several years.

yes!

volume control, BUMP THIS ONE LOUDER! the industrial boom snare combo was great, and the crazy white noise made me wonder what program you use, do tell! the depths is like a thick organic massive alien space craft. i want to delve deeper into it, but i'm afraid what i might find, but the song drove on and pulled me deeper and deeper.......oh my god.....i float up into that beautiful glowing light of the solo chime....i float closer and the bass arpeggiator comes up close behind and BAM!!! TRANCE CITY!! OH MY GENTLE JESUS!! this song is like nothing i've ever heard. and the piano at the end...what am i hearing?? dominating the sound the piano empowers it all like a machine come to life. this is too much!!!!! nothing clashes and yet it seems like it's about to burst with sound and then i'm released into space.....................I love you Xstormer

XsToRmEr1 responds:

Actually, the background ambience is the title idle screen music from Metroid Prime. I sped it up and timed it with the rest of my song.

I'M GOING TO EXPLODE!

HOLY LIVING FUCK!!! this song.....this song should be number one in the AP for a straight month with it's sheer genius! you call this techno, and my oh my, it lives up to it like a warrior to his honor.
the ambient beginning was very smooth and sent my head right where i needed to be, the super resonating kick kind of threw me off, but it fit in perfectly when the filtering synth jumped in with the stretching bass synth.
I know dreamscaper already said this, but THIS, this is a musical prodigy, it puts me to shame (although i've never really been able to read music or have taken piano lessons) but it doesn't matter, you know your TECHNO!
My amazement with this song's astounding sound doesn't even come close, so how wonderful you must feel when you make music. please keep making it, you know i will be listening!

XsToRmEr1 responds:

Lots of thanks dude :). It's people like you that make creating music fun for me. People like you inspire and compel me to keep going on. And that's exactly what I'm doing. Although, I wouldn't like to consider myself a prodigy. I just got a lot of practice and I learned many times from my mistakes. Whatever the case is, I'm glad people enjoy my work. My next song and/or loop project should be finished in the next week or so. That is, if I don't have school consuming me more than it already is.

oooh i like this one too!

wow, heavy ambient reverb on this one. i was thinking it was a little to basic up until that sweet little light lead came in. And then it turns around and becomes more drum and bass-like than "stand up" very interesting. two songs in one. I see why you called it misc. genre. Not quite sure where this song is going though. maybe some sort of ultimate climax or soemthing would work. that piano!!! amazing choice, very cool. very good, you must play piano or something. well good luck and happy songwriting!

oller responds:

well the funny thing is that I don't play the piano but thanks for the very kind review!

nice nice

definitely an imaginative and well written little peice here. all the work put into the different instruments shows. very nice, laid back drum and bass, by the way, that is the funkiest bassline i've ever heard on Newgrounds, stick with it, what an awesome sound. funk rocks. This song rocks, the sounds were a little simple and trite but that fit in with this song's style. your gonna surprise them all. keep it up!

oller responds:

wow, this is a lot more better response to this song than I expected! I shall keep it up and try to improve myself. thank you for the kind words!

suggestion here

Well first off, i'd name it "Midnight Stroll" because it has a very cool and quiet chill feel. but man, some of the samples clashed and stuck out like sore thumbs...but they weren't very loud so no worries. just work on that perc pattern a little more so that it audibly matches up (pitch-wise) but that was an awesome sub-bass, very funky. keep on rocking it!

YEAH!!!!

jesus!!! the beginning sounded like killer birds coming to kill me!! holy shit, this song rocks!!! so badass! that thick ol' super beat with the crazy bird sounds was insane and when the singing came in it totally reminded me of old school Prodigy. The breakdown was marvelous and the beats..oh man.......just some DAMN good work here!

cool stuff

man, this had a really cool, smoothe feel to it (looped really well too) this would have been REALLY cool if you had just added some more stuff to it, a lead synth line or maybe some rockin' chords, something just to keep the listener waiting for more, so minus that little fault, very good song. please keep it up!

jjnash77 responds:

y thank because of u i allready decided to make a remix. but im making 2, ill put one on tommorow

good start

Since i know your just starting out, i'll just try and give you very helpful tips.
It's best to come in at a song in just one pattern. that way you can hear all the stuff together when you first start. This pattern should generally be the highest point of your song. then when you've made that pattern, it just gets easier. divide up all the stuff in the main pattern into a bunch patterns (cut and paste) and go into the song window. then arrange everything how you want it to go. Then just create the links between all your patterns such as reverse crash, snare roll (you got that one already! ;) and maybe some simplified versions of the main pattern.

Overall, this song needed more of a diversity in patterns and sounds. maybe some long synths, the beat was cool, and when you tweak the drum sounds it will sound cooler. I hear some good stuff coming (that flute ending was great!) keep it up!!

oh my!

haha, this is great dude. such a happy little melody, i just can't help but laugh while listening to it, i just imagine some sort of troll hopping along a path to work or something. there is some crazy sounds in this. but mid song, the arpeggiating solo thing came in a little too loud, it happened once ore twice actually. but only took points off clarity. Overall this is a very happy-go-lucky song very dear to my heart. i love it. yay!

johnfn responds:

Hehehehe. A troll bouncing along to work... quite an interesting vision, lol. The arpeggiating solo... I see what you mean so next time ill try to keep everything closer to the same volume. I'm glad you love it :). yay!

I make music that pops and clicks in your eardrums and in your synapses. listen to my beats and you'll breathe with me.
